Children are not properties to own and rule over, but gifts to cherish and care for. Our children are our most important guest, who enter into our home, ask for careful attention, stay for a while and then leave to follow thier own way

I was born one spring day
Screaming and squalling for the first time
You looked at me for the first time and touched my baby skin
A couple years past as the dawn set and rose on the horizon
I started discovering my favorite foods
    Hugging my pooh pillows
And sleeping in my momma’s bed…
Especially on the nights when thunderous lights lite the sky
I stopped coming to your bed and asking for your comfort
I started depending on my friends instead of you
    That’s when it all started
The day I started talking to my friends more than you
Answering your daily question”how was school?” as “fine”
Not wanting to tell u of my day, rather spend an hour on the phone with my friends about it.
I never thought of you as the jealous type
I rather thought of you as a loving, kind, mom accepting it
Accepting that I am growing up
Then I set my eyes on a boy …analyzing him differently
    Looking him up and down.
    Every mom’s fear
    A sign of growing up
I remember the first time I ask if I could hang out with the guy
You denied me and refused to accept a potential boyfriend
As He had come to be
You never liked that I loved someone else
    And shared my love,
Between my other love ones as I adopted them to be
Best friends came and went as I grew up in elementary school
But one stood out from all the rest
    And you noticed it
I wanted to spend every waking minute with her
Your phone bill went higher and higher as our friendship grew and grew
You started getting angry as I asked to spend time with her
    Making me beg and cry
I never thought you would do this to me
Making me suffer for your own benefit
Thinking it will keep my love limited
    It’s doing the opposite
You are losing my respect for you and most importantly my love
As much as you think you have cut off our friendship, you have not
You have only strengthened our friendship
To realize how much we love each other and depend on each other
And how valuable our friendship really is!
Now here’s a question for you...
    I grew up, can you?

Are you telling me you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white, no halo in sight?
Well, you missed the most obvious thing
    Man are you blind?
Just look in your mother's eyes.
