The Final Farewell
The wolf danced in the speckled moonlight,
A howl sounding through his teeth.
Calling for his one true love,
To the sky he stood beneath.
The called one quickly found her way,
To the one she knew so well.
Her silver eyes as bright as day,
With no thoughts of approaching hell.
He kissed her nose in happiness,
Love shining in his heart,
Not knowing that their cheerful bliss,
Would soon be ripped apart.
She nuzzled his cheek and shut her eyes tight,
Dreaming of their future as one.
But neither could see what hid out of sight,
The darkness that blocked out the sun.
Suddenly the sky split in two,
As thunder cracked in the air.
The wolves looked in fear to the heavens,
That awaited one of the pair.
A shot as loud as hatred,
Was fired into the night.
The she-wolf fell to her bloody paws,
Death shining ever so bright.
The brute cried out in sorrow,
At the sight of his dying love.
Her body becoming weaker,
Fading into the clouds above.
Her eyes opened ever so slightly,
To look one last time at him,
And found only enough strength,
To whisper her final farewell.
