This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen. It's an explanation other people will understand.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."
"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

then why do Christians suffer?
I havent thought of it like this. This is an amazing quote :D
The people who come to god are the people that are suffering and in pain.
I loled - think about it a little
this quote is so amazing what a great analagy man! God bless!!!
The logical fallacy built into this analogy is obvious. We cannot see, hear or even comprehend a god or gods that reaches universal agreement. Since there is no way to test your claim that a god exists I have to ask you how you know. We can all see a barber in a barber shop. We can get confirmation of what we see from others and, most importantly, the barber can speak for himself. If you can demonstrate some compelling reason why a god exists with evidence that could stand up in a courtroom, then I would consider what you say more seriously. An appeal to some sacred scripture is not evidence, as any judge will tell you.

Ultimately, you have no such evidence and so you must rely on an appeal to faith. But faith is not a virtue. Faith is gullibility. There are people who believe in ghosts and alien abductions, but we have no obligation to believe them. It is only evidence that determines whatever your view of reality is in conjunction with the way it really is. Without evidence we have no reason to believe what you say about the existence of a god. You may believe it sincerely, but why should anyone else?

Then there is the question of what you mean by god. Do you mean Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Jesus, Shiva? Your analogy with the barber does not go anywhere near this kind of complexity. It is a neat way of avoiding the difficult questions that many thinking people have. It seems you have no convincing answer for them. How regrettable.
This quote is so ridiculous that it's drivin me nuts!
An honourable christian would never believe that people have to suffer because they don't believe in god and pray. If it was so, god wouldn't be good, and that's what he is supposed to be.

Belivers mostly argue that it's about feeling something in your soul and then again they tend to make a fool of themselfs by tryin to find "logically" explanations.

Stupid s**t, the ones who truely believe in something don't need to proselytize people and also they will know that their faith is just one of a hundred million ways to see things... PLEASE guys don't pretend to be a christian and act like stupid, its about ethical values, whole story!
